Dr Jane Basden

Jane studied medicine in her late 30s, after completing an Arts degree and working for ten years in Germany and the north of England. She completed the Graduate Medical Program at Sydney Uni and trained at Nepean Hospital before entering General Practice training and obtaining her RACGP Fellowship. Jane has worked in Palliative Care in the UK, and has a keen interest in remote area Medicine. She works frequently in Central Australia and other rural medical placements.

Jane believes strongly in the role of doctors in fighting for social justice – because it benefits the health of the community, and because it is ethically right to do so.

She lives in the mountains, enjoys most things outdoor and active, and has two beloved adult sons.
